Agent Spotlight: Patti Ford | Celebrating 15 Years in Real Estate

At Greenbrier Real Estate Service, our agents bring more than real estate knowledge to the table. They bring passion for the community and a genuine commitment to helping people find the right place to call home in the Greenbrier Valley.

Today we are highlighting a longtime member of the GRES family who has spent 15 years serving buyers and sellers throughout the Greenbrier Valley.

A Natural Path into Real Estate

Real estate was a natural next step in her career. She earned her degree in Interior Design from West Virginia University in 1981, and for years has been involved in designing homes and businesses. Her background includes making decisions in construction, renovation, and decorating, giving her clients a unique perspective when evaluating properties.

Because of that experience, she understands not only how a home looks, but how it functions to better serve its occupants.

The Most Underrated Feature of a Home

When asked about the most underrated feature of a home, she points to something many buyers overlook at first:

The configuration and flow of the home.

How a home’s layout fits a homeowner’s lifestyle, both today and in the future, can make all the difference in daily living. A beautiful home is wonderful, but a home that works well for the way you live is even more valuable.

Advice for Buyers and Sellers

With years of experience guiding clients through real estate transactions, she offers practical advice for both buyers and sellers.

For Buyers:

No home is perfect. Prioritizing your needs and understanding what matters most will help you find the right home for your lifestyle.

For Sellers:

Buyers notice everything. When a buyer sees one obvious maintenance issue, they often assume there may be more beneath the surface. Taking time to address those details before listing can make a big difference.

Life in the Greenbrier Valley

When asked about her favorite hidden gem in the area, she had a simple answer:

“Our area IS the gem.”

She and her husband, Rich, feel incredibly blessed to live in a place where others travel to visit. The Greenbrier Valley offers the perfect balance of natural beauty, culture, and community.

Their family also shares a special place along the Greenbrier River, where they spend time swimming, floating, kayaking, roasting marshmallows, grilling, playing games, and walking the river trail together. It’s a place filled with meaningful family memories.

On weekends, they enjoy playing tourist close to home! Dining at the area’s wonderful restaurants, browsing the charming downtown shops, and attending performances at Carnegie Hall and the Greenbrier Valley Theatre are some of their favorites. The region also hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the beloved West Virginia State Fair.

“The people are lovely here,” she says. “I could go on and on.”

Life Outside of Real Estate

Family is at the heart of everything she does. She loves spending time with her loved ones and especially cherishes time with her three granddaughters. She’s also a proud dog lover and adores her Boston Terrier, Auggie.

Her creative side remains an important part of her life as well. She enjoys watercolor painting and all forms of art, and she still offers design consulting when the opportunity arises.

When football season arrives, you’ll also find her cheering on WVU football — she proudly says she bleeds blue and gold.

Community First

Being part of the community is just as important as helping clients buy and sell homes. She is actively involved with several organizations, including:

  • Greenbrier Artists
  • Greenbrier Gardeners
  • Lewisburg United Methodist Church
  • P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization)
  • Greenbrier Board of REALTORS® (GBOR)
  • Greenbrier Real Estate Service (GRES)

A Proud Member of the GRES Team

After 15 years with the Greenbrier Real Estate Service team, she remains confident in one thing:

GRES is the absolute best — professional, supportive, and committed to excellence.

We are proud to have her as part of the GRES family and grateful for the experience, creativity, and dedication she brings to her clients and our community.
